Quickly, the boy had felt the words, the things he had said, strange off of his tongue and therefore, he promised himself he would do all he could to communicate without such needless phrases. His friend, at least, he liked to consider her a friend despite knowing what her mother did, apologized, as if saying ‘sorry for the loss’ in his mind which caused him to try and shut his emotions back down. It took him a few minutes, and those few minutes were sure to be a blubbery barely holding it together mess, but he managed it just fine. But then, Kyna offered something he hadn’t expected from her, and his eyes widening in response were his way of showing it, his maw slightly agape as he thought of how to respond.
His mouth clamped shut as he nodded furiously. Perhaps the both of them could figure out where his dad went so then he and Maeve weren’t alone! Sure, they had Tani and now Kyna, but it didn’t replace the hole he felt, and they certainly weren’t substitutes for their parents. It stung, because he had been told by his parents that family was everything, and then his dad had just walked out on it… like… what the hell? He was confused by it all, and perhaps if he and Kyna could find Ace, then they could get some answers. He wrinkled his nose for a second as he thought of one vital question: where could his father have gone?
