Gone Tomorrow
Corinna's words did not go unnoticed, their subtle meaning not lost on Ice. That was certainly a good thing. Last year they had beat around that particular bush until they finally decided that it was simply not worth it. Corinna's heart had still belonged to Indru at that point, and no matter the desperation she had felt, she would not allow herself to give in to unfaithfulness. But since Indru had decided to give up on his family, all ties of love had been severed. It was not Indru's feelings and pride she was thinking of now, but rather her own needs. And those of her three remaining children. It seemed they were also on Ice's mind, and as he spoke up, she found herself smiling knowingly to herself. Maybe younger siblings would help cheer up her two daughters, and Fenru, well, he was ready to prove himself to the world.
Yes, we do still live and we do still love. That was absolutely true, no matter what the world through at them. It was not always easy, but that made no difference. "We'll make it. No matter what," she confirmed, the bite of determination in her voice distinctive, only to be replaced by giggles as Ice brought up the inevitable fact that if she became pregnant, her stomach would swell. Her black lips pulling back, she bared her teeth at him in a smile, tail thumping the ground. "And no matter how fat I will become, I will still be smaller than you. Do you think you'll be able to keep up?"
Pulling her legs back, towards her stomach, Cori rolled back onto her stomach. Pushing off the ground, she hoisted herself up. Bounding backwards she looked at him a coy smile on her lips, falling into a mock bow and beating at the snow with her forepaws. With a woof she shuffled backwards a few steps, prepared to lead him on a merry chase. There was no doubt in her mind he would follow, and the words and body posture made it clear that there was no doubt what lay at the end of this chase.
