Packs, Pups, Board Updates
The past few weeks have been very busy here on RoW, so we have a pretty long update for you guys today with more planned in the upcoming weeks with new policy updates and changes. To help you navigate the announcement easier, we've added a table of contents with quick links to each of our topics.
Two New Packs: Grizzly Hollow and Round Stone Crest
There are two new packs in Relic Lore! Grizzly Hollow has been revived by Borden and Jaysyek Lyall, setting up shop in their original territory in Cedarwood Forest. Black Thorn Downs has also relocated to one of our new territories, Stonewatch Timbers. They are now going by their name, Round Stone Crest. Congratulations to both packs!
Territory Organization
The map has been updated to reflect not only our new packs, but also a change in territory organization. The Deep region has been combined with the Vale of Secrets, meaning that some territories have become sub territories. For details on the new sub territories, you can check our our Library Guide on Sub Territories. If a territory is not selectable when creating a thread, please let us know by posting in the maintenance thread.
Puppy Information
For all parents who are expecting puppies in the upcoming weeks, please double check your due date in the Pup Adoption thread. Birthing threads can be posted any time after the thread is created, but pups are not playable until two weeks after the birthing thread has been started. This means that the longer you delay posting your birth thread, the longer until your pups are playable.
For all pup players, I strongly urge you to familiarize yourself with our Wolf Development Guide. Pups are not adults, which means there are limitations in how they can be played and where they can go.
Health Deductions
The automatic health deductions have been removed to reflect that there's more food available in Relic Lore during the summer time. Health is now 100% member controlled.
Lone Wolf Docks
The lone wolf docks have also been reduced to -20 every two weeks. This means that completing just two threads a month will offset the dock. The two week deduction period will go into effect after the next time your character experiences a deduction.
The ability for staff to delete LP that has been accidentally awarded has also been fixed. So everybody who posted in Maintenance needing that update has had their LP updated appropriately.
Life Points
Just a reminder that all Life Points requests must be submitted through the Life Points form. This form is linked, and has been for a few months, on both the sidebar and in the maintenance thread. From here on out, any LP requests posted in the Maintenance thread will be automatically deleted. That said, if you are having problems submitting your LP via the form, you can let us know via Maintenance so we can figure out what the bug is that is preventing the form from functioning.
Threadlog Thread Locations
When you create an IC thread, there is an option to set a thread prefix. This prefix is the equivalent of setting a thread location. If you do not set a prefix for the thread, then the location field on your thread log will be empty. By default, prefixes should be required in all IC forums, but I have noticed a few thread logs that are missing their locations. So please double check when you're creating a new thread to make sure you have a thread prefix selected. If you see a thread without a location in your thread log, feel free to contact the starter of the thread and ask them to set a prefix.
Member Feedback Requested
As always, we love getting member feedback. We're currently in the process of doing some of the behind the scenes work required for the implementation of some new ideas proposed by members. There is currently a discussion regarding the Fight System that is open to member input. Additionally, RoW's 5th Birthday is rapidly approaching. We will be having our annual yearbook and a few other celebrations, but if you have ideas or would like to volunteer with the birthday celebrations, please let us know!

Moving Black Thorn Downs
Hello everyone! I'm posting here about this thread. It is the official pack claiming thread and as such it is required that you post into at least one round. The first round ends on the 28th so please get your replies in by then, there will only be 2 rounds as I hope to have this completed by the time Minka gives birth. If you're not on absence and don't post your character into either round it will be assumed that your character is no longer with the pack.

BWP Wrap-up, Site Survey Responses, & Puppies
We have a lot of updates for you guys today and planned over the next couple of weeks. We're wrapping up our winter activities and diving on in to our spring and summer events and updates. So without further ado...
BWP: Adventure is Out There!
Last December, several residents of Relic Lore were lost in a series of snowstorms and blizzards. They ended up in a new region to the north of the known lands of Relic Lore. Although efforts were made to find our lost comrades, ultimately, it took spring and the melting snows to help them find their way back to their friends and families. However, that means this new area is accessible to everybody and free to be explored.
Introducing Snowmarch Expanse!
For years, the lands to the north of Relic Lore had gone unexplored. That changed once winter blizzards trapped Relic Lore inhabitants in these foreign lands and wolves began to discover the Snowmarch Expanse region. The region is characterized by boreal forests, clear rivers and lakes, and hilly terrain. However, forest gives way to tundra the further north one travels. Crossing Serpent's Pass, Snowmarch Expanse connects the eastern and western halves of Relic Lore together, significantly lowering the traveling time between the two.
This new region features six new territories for your characters to explore. Even more important, Snowmarch Expanse serves as a bridge between the Eastern and Western halves of Relic Lore, reducing the travel time between the two sides by several days. Details about this new region will be added to the Library over the next week, but we look forward to reading your exploration threads!
Site Survey Responses
In January/February, we posted a site survey to get your guys' feedback on how we are doing as a staff and how we can improve your RP experience. We got a lot of great feedback, and we sincerely thank everybody who took the time to respond to the survey. Our goal is to make RoW enjoyable for all of you, and using your feedback is one of the best ways we can do that. Some of the changes are smaller and will be implemented over time, but we do have one potentially big change to introduce now: word counts.
RoW has held to a 250 word minimum for posts for the last several years, but after some internal discussion and looking at the feedback from the site survey, we're considering changing that minimum. Because this is such a big change and will have a site-wide impact, we are holding a separate poll (found here) to get your opinions on the issue. The poll will be open for the next 7 days, and we really hope to get as much feedback as possible from it. If you have questions or concerns about the word count issue, please respond to the Word Count poll thread.
Puppies
Finally, we have posted our 2015 Cub Adoption listing up in Wolf Central. You can check it out here! Instructions for adopting a puppy can be found in the first post of the thread. Expectant parents, please see the first post of the thread for your character's due date. It isn't required that you begin your thread on the date posted, but it cannot be started before that date. Puppies will be playable beginning two weeks after their birth date.
If you're wanting to adopt a puppy, we strongly recommend that you read through our Puppy Development Guide. Puppies are fun, cute, and adorable, but they have their own restrictions when it comes to RP, so please keep this in mind before applying.

Concerning Puppies
Prospective parents! Please send in your puppy information to the Spirit of Wildwood by April 4th. The sooner we have all the litters accounted for, the sooner we can officially release the Cub Adoption details and let the adoption process begin!
Expectant mothers and fathers are also invited to check out our Starting a Family Library Article to help track and gauge both their pregnancy and the anticipation that puppies bring.

Mortals of Relic Lore, behold. You've asked for it and now... the Apocalypse has truly come. War, Famine, Plague, and Death. In the form of the legendary Four Fiends they come to the lands on swift paws and hasty wings, causing chaos in their wake.
The sudden onslaught of a spring-born lightning storm has come to the lands. Fires in the north have ravaged much of what was once a promise of lush soil and tall, verdant forests. Smoke rises from the land where the trees have collapsed, the streams have changed to a sickly green color, and a putrid stink has permeated the air. Some birds have fallen from the heights, otters have washed up on the river banks, deer and moose have tumbled to the ground. Even the rivals and the vermin have made themselves scarce. The stars have seemed to start falling from the sky, their trails streaking across the heavens. The moon itself has become what some have called a "moon dog," it's halo - when capable of been seen through the smoke and fumes - a possible sign and guiding light for those to make themselves scarce in the night. The sun, however, seems warns of a new threat as it, too, has seemingly transformed. Now a "sun dog," it's halo brings with it one or two other suns each rise and fall.
What was once the world all creatures both loved and loathed is now gone. All that is left are the Ruins of Relic Lore.
This is it. This is the end. The Spirit of Wildwood has abandoned us.
Are you ready? Is it in you to prove you can survive? Will you - and your loved ones - survive? Is this the world your future cubs deserve?

NEW Board-Wide Plot
Welcome RoWers, to our new BWP. It has been advised for all characters to be on high-alert as the day they have awoken to is definitely different than the ones before. Please find below a list of prompts to guide your wolf through this new development:
— FEAR OF THE FOUR
Ears up, eyes open, nose twitching, paws ready to run... Be on your guard, mortal. The Four Fiends are in your pack, in the trees, in the shadows, creeping along your borders in the dead of night, watching your every move. No one knows who they are, where they are, what they want. Will you be one of the few they contact?
— SUN DOGS' ASCENDING
From the very first hours of sunrise, it is apparent that something has changed. There are now two - no, three?! - suns in the sky. This is a startling development. What does it mean?
— THE MOON DOGS' DESCENT
When the three suns set, the moon begins to rise and, with it comes two other balls of light. Something is not right, everywhere is lit up and there is barely any places to hide. Everything and everyone is vulnerable in the dead of night.
— TO THE ABANDONED GO THE SPOILS
The herds have not come back and all the water sources have turned a repulsive green. If it wasn't enough to find dead prey every so often, all along the riverbanks and the lakeshore, numerous fish have washed up dead. Even the frogs have gone belly-up in the shallows.
— RED HANDS
In the north a spring-borne thunderstorm has ignited the ancient giants that make up Stonewatch Timbers. The air fills with smoke and everywhere the ground has been scorched. Get out before it's too late!
— ETHEREAL
Everywhere a subtle blue-green mist has settled on the lands. One good whiff tells you that it isn't good... It makes your nose wrinkle, your fur stand up on end, and your skin crawl. Something or someone has already made their mark on Relic Lore and they obviously don't want you here.
— PLAGUE:
Your mind has become foggy and your mouth has become dry. Your eyes deceive you with a bit of white and you cry... A ghoulish presence has made itself present, feasting on the lands with gluttony and greed, and rendering the lands with a sickly air. The first of the Four Fiends, Plague, has come, breathing sickness into the air and striking both bird and beast down with a single ghastly glare. It seems to be searching for something, will you make yourself scarce or aid it in its hunt?
— WAR:
Your blood boils and you flash your teeth with a terrible snarl. Your fur stands on en, and you summon the red-tinged presence of the Fiend, War. It seems angered, willing to give you a sort of 'blessing' in the plans and schemes you have been nursing for so long. Admit surrender and feed its force or embody the power that now courses through your veins?
— FAMINE:
Your stomach clenches and your gut churns. Your throat spasms and your mouth salivates; it feels as if your ribs are visible through your shedding winter coat. Corpses, bodies, cadavers everywhere... but not a bite to eat. If the Spirit of Wildwood is truly gone, what would you sacrifice to the black Fiend, Famine, to survive?
— DEATH
Your heart feels weak, your toes cold, your lungs ablaze, your jaw too tight... The world spins and a dark, but pale figure stands in your midst. This couldn't be the Spirit of Wildwood... Is this an omen? Is this the end? Has Death come too soon?

Breeding Season Ends Soon
Just a reminder that the last day to sign up for breeding season is on Saturday. After that day, no more couples will be permitted to breed.
Second, breeding threads should be completed by April 1st. Without a completed thread, there will be no puppies produced and we all want puppies! :)
Finally, once each pair has their puppy information figured out, please PM it to the Spirit of Wildwood account. Please do not format it - we just need an organized list of the information.
I also want to remind everyone that the activity check will take place next week, so make sure you've got your minimum post counts met.

Spring is coming!
Spring is working its way to Relic Lore! With couples breaking away from groups to spend quality time with one another, the promise of puppies lingers throughout Relic Lore. There is still snow on the ground and in the air — but the sun is lasting longer in the evenings, and soon, the temperatures will begin to rise. Wolves tend to take a mate during breeding season, breaking away from their pack to create their own — I wonder what this spring will bring for RoW? It's a pity that a few faces still seem to be missing.. and search parties have been scouring the lands for their lost loved ones.
New skins.
To celebrate another season, we have taken down the winter skins and put up some fresh new spring skins! If anyone is interested in submitting some spring skins of their own, don't forget about our skin drive thread! We'll still happily accept a couple of skin additions. :)
