RoW 2013-2014 Yearbook Voting

Thank you to everybody who helped to contribute to this year's superlative categories! We had a lot of fun reading through them and we hope that you enjoy the selection we chose to include in this year's yearbook. This year, there are 3 separate forms you can submit to include your information in the yearbook. All of these forms will be editable until July 1st. Responses must be submitted and finalized by that date to be included.

Attention Pack Leaders & Members

What have you and your pack been up to this year? Had some good moments? Maybe some bad ones? You might want to get started on a pack blurb to include on your page in the yearbook! Get a thread started in the common room and generate some ideas so they can get written up in paragraph form ASAP. Pack blurbs are also due July 1st.

New Pack & Member Input

My, my, hasn't May been a busy month for us? All of RoW's expectant parents have been given birth, and many of this year's puppies are now playable. The arrival of RoW's youngest members is always exciting, but we would like to give the puppy players and those who will be interacting with them most a friendly reminder that we have a well written wolf development guide. Please keep these approximations of your puppy's development in mind as you play them (for instance, puppies should be staying in their pack territories for the near future - no days long treks for them).

New Pack

Many of you have noticed already, but RoW has a new pack! @Minka and @Tokino have broken their ties with Whisper Caverns and have taken up residence in Blackberry Fields. Good luck, Black Thorn Downs! We look forward to seeing your pack develop and thrive.

Member Input

In addition to the Of the Month Voting that will be ending tomorrow, we also have a thread in progress asking for member input on the upcoming RoW yearbook and other birthday activities. If you have ideas for superlatives for the yearbook, please view this thread here. If you have additional ideas for birthday celebrations, please feel free to post them here or PM them to me on Serach's account!

Fight Rule Adjustment

The staff would like to announce that fights will now have a set time limit of 3 days between posts. In a fight between Character A and Character B, Character B has 3 days to respond to the fight after Character A has posted. Character A then has 3 days to post, and it continues until the fight has ended. This rule is suspended if one of the fighters is on the absence log, but if that is the case, then we highly recommend and will encourage an OOC solution to the fight. If a player does not meet the 3 day deadline, the fight will automatically default to the other participant.

OOC Joining & Rules Updates

As was mentioned in the last announcement, we would like to introduce OOC Joining to RoW. A new forum called Join a Pack has been added to Wolf Central. In this forum, you'll see a pinned thread that has the detailed instructions on how to join a pack. We have asked all of the pack leaders to write a post prompt for lone wolves to respond to that will allow the leaders to gauge a potential member's personality and how they would fit into the pack. To join a pack, all you have to do is post a new thread in that forum with the pack's title as the name, provide a few details as outlined in the joining instructions, and respond to that pack's specific prompt. Once you've done that, a leader will read your response and make a decision, either accepting or denying your character into the pack.

Join requests will be filled on a first come, first served basis. So a character who posts an application first will be ranked above a character who posts an application second if they are accepted into that pack. In Character joining is still allowed and encouraged, but we wanted to offer this option to both members and leaders, who can often get bogged down with join threads.

Rules Updates

Over the next week, Shadow is making it her personal project to update and reformat the Game Rules and important links on the site's sidebar. As the site has grown and policies and rules have changed, we haven't always been the best at keeping that information updated in the relevant places. So we need your help - what kind of rules do we have here on RoW that are either unwritten or not located in our Game Rules section of the library? Please respond to this news post and let us know so we can get that information updated for new and old members alike!

We've got a lot of updates to announce today, including new joining procedures and new activity rules regarding puppies. So please read through carefully to make sure you got it all!

Easter Egg Hunt Winners

OOC Joining

Due to increasing wait times to join packs, the staff has decided to introduce OOC joining to RoW on a trial basis. More information will be posted in the upcoming week, but this OOC joining will require lone wolves to respond to a specific post prompt for the pack they are hoping to join. Leaders! You have an important thread in the leader board concerning this. Please respond to that thread ASAP!

Puppy Activity Rules

Due to some confusion over the current puppy activity rules, the staff has discussed them and hopefully eliminated some of the "gray area" that existed previously. These rules will apply to the 2014 puppies and beyond.

1. Puppies older than 8 months are treated as adults in terms of survival. They can survive on their own.
2. Puppies younger than 8 months cannot survive without an adult. If you want your puppy to leave Relic Lore, they must leave with an established adult character (ie. The adult must be a member on the site, no NPC wolves who took your puppy character away)
3. The joining age of all characters is still 12 months, so if your character leaves at 8 months, you must wait 4 months to bring them back.
4. If a pup goes inactive, the parents have 2 weeks to find a replacement player or the pup will die.

These rules have been added to our Game Rules in the Library for future reference. We would advise all adopters of puppies to familiarize themselves with these rules. Taking on a puppy character is a big responsibility - these are key plot characters who cannot just disappear willy nilly because the player doesn't have time for them. So out of fairness to the parents and other family members of these characters, please be considerate of knowing your own time constraints.

Easter Egg Hunt

It's the strangest thing guys..! It looks like some colorful (borderline blinding) eggs have been scattered across the site.. and they have letters that show up when you hover your mouse over them. I bet they spell something!

In fact.. I bet there's 9 in total! And almost anywhere on RoW is fair game to find these.. from the Library, right down to official posts on the board. Those who can find all the eggs and unscramble the word should PM it to the Spirit of Wildwood account with a brief list of where the eggs were found as well. Perhaps a shiny ribbon will be given to those who can complete the hunt before it's taken down on Monday? ;)

Dearest, loveliest RoWers! WOW! What an event! This year for April Fools' Day, RoW Admin got carried away and "converted" the board into a vampire/werewolf theme with a very favorable outcome. All throughout a section of Relic Lore called "Wildwood, New Jersey," lupine characters shape-shifted into a vampire, werewolf, or mortal human version of themselves (those must've been crazy dreams your wolf-character had, hmm?), causing chaos and creating hilarious and curiosity-provoking threads with this year's selection of word-changes:
