[dohtml] Board Cleanup
This is a an update regarding the upcoming Board Cleanup. On Sunday night, around 9-10pm EST, RoW will be going under some board maintenance. The game will still be online, so you're posting will not be interrupted. However, there are some areas of the board that will be cleaned up. They are listed below.
- Dead Threads: Threads that have not been responded to since March 1st will be moved to the Dead Threads forum. If you wish, you may revive them to finish them.
- PMs: All inactive accounts will have their PMs cleared. If you have an old character who has PMs on their account, please download them if you want them saved.
- User Accounts: All user accounts that have made zero posts will be removed from the board. That will delete any information that comes with them. So if you have a friend who joined and never finished the process, please take the time to let them know about it.
- Library Update: The Library will be brought up to date. If there is information that you think needs to be included, whether that is on a timeline, in a Life Points FAQ, anything at all, please reply to this post and let me know.
- New Feature: ;)
Thanks guys!

[dohtml] Congratulations, Tara!
From all of us here at RoW, we would like to extend our greatests joys and blessings to Tara, who married her long-time boyfriend and best friend today. We've heard you talking about it for months, and the big day is finally here! I've seen the pictures, and she looks stunning. I've known her and Jamie both for a very long-time, and I can honestly say that they are two of the most wonderful people I've ever had the chance to meet. I love you both, and I can't wait for you guys to be able to begin this next chapter in your lives. <3
If you would like to comment with your own congratulations message, Please feel free to do so. [/dohtml]

Rules Reminder: Post Lengths
This is a reminder from your administration that there is a 2-3 paragraph minimum when posting here on RoW. A paragraph is defined at 5-6 sentences. Ideally, you should be shooting for at least 250 words per post. Recently, the issue of post length has become incredibly pressing, and we're pretty disheartened by the lack of respect for this particular rule. As a result, the administration has decided to disqualify members who's posts are overwhelming short from the Monthly Top Posters competition. Typing up at a 6 or sentence post and dividing it into "two" paragraphs, is not the same as putting thought into your posts, and its hardly fair to the members who do take the time and energy to really write to be bested by somebody who's maximum post length is maybe 30 words.
Additionally, there has been a fair bit of powerplaying and godmodding going on - and these are most definitely against our rules here at RoW. Powerplay is defined as controlling what another character does, whether that be what they're thinking, how they react, etc. This is most commonly seen in fights, where it is tempting to say that your attack hit the opposing character, but that is considered powerplay. If you're having issues with this, then I would recommend you take a look at our ROLEPLAY TIPS or ask in Chat Central to ask about it. More experienced writers are happy to help you. Likewise, if you're godmodding, it is just as aggravating to the people you're rping with. Godmodding is when your character knows information that they could not possibly know. For example, Wolf A thinks Wolf B is really cute, but in no way indicates this. Wolf B asks Wolf A why they think he/she is cute.
This post is aimed primarily towards our newer members, some of whom seem to be having difficulties with posting. We're happy to have you here at RoW, and we hope that by rping with us you become better writers. That said, these are a part of our rules, and as members of our community, we ask that you follow them.

Lots of Updates
Hello, everyone. We want to give a big congratulations to the site and all of its members - we recently surpassed 7,000 posts. This is in large part to the influx of newcomers we've had to RoW in the past month or two. The staff would officially like to extend a welcome to you newer players, and we hope that you're getting settled into our community here. As always, any comments, questions, suggestions, can be posted in the Genius Bar and we'll be sure to take a look at it.
A few of our newer members have not been around the roleplaying community for as long as some of us oldies (like me D=), so the staff would like to point you in the direction of our role-play tips, though we would highly recommend this as a resource to anybody if they're feeling low on muse and just aren't sure what to write about.
The staff would like to congratulate the January Monthly winners. Wolf of the Month was Ruiko who is played by Rachel (who is also Member of the Month). The top posters were Dark, Tyrant, and Becuffin, respectively. You guys did a fabulous job and we challenge you to keep it up and the rest of the site to try and catch up!
The influx of new members has resulted in a large number of lone wolves. Please keep in mind that wolves are social animals by nature, and they will/should be trying to seek out a pack. So now would be a good time to start thinking about joining one of the three current packs, or if you wolf meets the requirements, creating one! That said, the Lone Wolf LP Tracker is now automated. This means that your 20 points will be docked when the schedule says it will.
Why does this matter? To add a bit more drama to the game, the staff has made the decision to place an emphasis on these life points. Now, whenever a character's life points hits zero, that character dies. This particular rule will begin taking place immediately, so all characters should be aware. This means that if you have not claimed (at the very least) your physique points, you need to do so soon.
Additionally, the "fighting" Life Points are now being divided into two separate categories to take into account some of the more minor scuffles that occur in threads. From now on a fight is considered a formal challenge and consists of 6-8 posts minimum (3-4 per participant), while a scuffle is an informal event with 3-4 posts (these both require 10 posts total in the thread though). These scuffles are worth 10 life points per participant, while fights will retain their current values. Please note that these points cannot be claimed for threads started before today, just to keep things easier on the staff.
Finally, I want to note that the IC forums were cleaned out today. Any thread that has not been responded to since January 1st has been placed in the dead thread archive. Members are free to revive those threads and finish them, as you must have a completed thread in order to claim life points for them.
I do believe that is all for now. Be on the look out for a short member survey and information regarding the 2012 Puppy Season! [/dohtml]

Copper Rock Creek
This news update is a little late in coming, but we wanted to provide time for Relic Lore's newest pack, Copper Rock Creek to get settled in their new territory. Located in the Secluded Spring, RoW's third pack is headed by Ruiko and his mate, Aeylen. Previous leader of Swift River, Ruiko has been wandering around Relic Lore for the past year patiently looking for followers so that he could resume leadership of a pack. That time has finally come. Open to lone wolves, please refer to this thread for more details on how to join the new pack.
That said, let us not forget out two previous packs, Swift River and Grizzly Hollow, who are also accepting new members. Swift River, the most recent home of Ruiko and his faithful followers Kinis and Volkan, is feeling an empty void where they have lost their loved family members.
That's all for now, but please keep an eye open for upcoming rule changes, as well as information about Breeding Season 2012.

[dohtml] New Year Kickoff
First, the staff would like to extend a warm Happy New Years to all of our members and guests! To start off our New Year we wanted to congratulate December's Monthly Winners! Congratulations to our new member Rebecca, for being voted Wolf of the Month! Also, to Frankie and Dark (again! xD) for being voted as Member of the Month. Finally, congratulations to our Top Poster's for December: Dark, Switch and Siki!
It's hard to believe that 2012 is on us already, and we're excited to have another year of RoWing with you all! Things have slowed down a bit over the holidays as they usually do, but we wanted to give you guys some updates!
New Skins
Some of you might have noticed that a lot of the skins have been switched out! A lot of last winter's skins are available once more while Chels has given us two new banners to work with! We recommend everyone check out the winter-themed skins we have to offer.
Activity Checks & Lone Wolf Life Points
We have slacked with the activity checks the past few weeks simply because we know how hectic the holidays and end of year can be for everyone! However, we would like everyone to know that we will continue our regular activity checks every Sunday starting with the upcoming one this weekend, so if you have not posted we recommend you do so! Remember, you must post once every seven days to avoid removal.
We would also like to remind all of our current lone wolves to keep track of our Lone Wolf Life Points Tracker thread to see when your character is next due to lose points in the Pack Category. There are two active packs currently and another pack in the making -- why not see if your character would fit in well with any of them?
On a smaller note for lone wolves, you can no longer accept a claimed territory as your den site. Once joining a pack, you will then be able to select the Den Location as the pack you have joined.
Role-Play Tips Guide!
Finally, our moderator Chels has written up a Role-Play Tips Guide now found in the Library! We recommend everyone take a peak over the article -- you might find it helpful or inspiring! A huge thanks to Chels for writing the article and to Shadow for updating it to the Library.

[dohtml] Small Updates
First of all, the staff would like to extend a warm welcome to all of the new faces who have been creeping around Relic Lore. We have had several new members join our ranks in the past couple of weeks. Quite a few of you have jumped right in, but we want to extend an invitation to those quieter ones to go ahead and make yourselves known in the community. We're friendly, and we don't bite, promise! =)
Along those same lines, thanks to our newer members, RoW has hit 6,000 posts (actually 6,017 as I'm typing this)! This is absolutely incredible! Keep up the good work you guys.
Thanks to some suggestions, we are currently in the process of working on a Help Guide for the newer RPers, who might need some additional resources or are looking for someways to better themselves as writers. So keep an eye open for that.
Additionally, we want to highlight the new Lone Wolf Life Point Tracker. This is to help us keep track of when lone wolves should lose their points as per our Life Point rules. If you are a lone wolf, it'd be helpful if you could take a quick look and check out the list to make sure you're on it and your dates are correct. If you are either not on the list or the dates are wrong, please let us know in the Maintenance thread.
Finally, we would like to direct your attention to the subterritory, the Underground Sea, in Riddle Heights. The territory was discovered by Elettra Archer. More information about the Underground Sea can be found here.
Keep your eyes out for a new holiday skin and a holiday random event! Keep in mind that winter is now upon us, and you'll be starting to see snow in the forecast - so please remember this when describing the weather in your posts. [/dohtml]

Go Vote!
First of all, you guys are amazing. The RoW staff would like to extend a hearty welcome to all of the new faces that have joined the RoW community - we look forward to getting to know you guys and your characters. =) As you can see, we are quite a lively community when we feel like it! Keep up all the stellar activity, everybody.
Secondly, I want to give you a friendly reminder that you should head over to the Monthly Nominations page to vote for who you think should be this month's winners. There are a lot of very deserving members and characters on the site, so let's give them some recognition.
Finally, since we're on the topic of voting, if you have a few minutes, why don't you click on a few of the Top Sites listed at the bottom of the index page? Each hit we get increases RoW's chances of being noticed by the curious passing by (and as we can see with the influx of new faces, these newcomers are awesome to get to RP with). So take a few seconds and go promote RoW to the world - after all, it's a disservice to the role playing community to keep RoW all to ourselves. ;)
