  Hello April!

Hello April!

It's that time again. Another month passed, another one beginning and time to congratulate last months winners! A huge pat on the back to Kiche for winning Wolf of the Month, Siki for winning Member of the Month and Switch, Kat and Frankie for beating all their rivals in the pit for the top three monthly posters! A well fought battle there, guys. For a bit of extra trivia Siki, Katsuma and Grey and Sarah came 4th, 5th and drew 6th respectively. However, even more outstanding is that in the month of March 788 IC posts were made, keep up the phenomenal job guys!

You may have also noticed that we welcomed in April by having our own little April Fools celebration by playing around with the word filter! We are all reverted back to normal now but it was great fun while it lasted and allowed us to have hysterics over some threads, for a listing of all the changed words and some quotes view this Library article here. We plan to keep that little bad boy updated with any other future special events we participate in for a running record.

Finally... As we bid farewell to March we also wave off Breeding Season, RoW's first ever one. All the potential parents managed to finish their breeding threads in time, we are expecting 3 litters this coming May! Now we have puppies to look forward too, which can start going up for adoption any time this month. However look out for a update in the very, very near future first which will give you all a run down on some rules and guidelines regarding putting puppies up for adoption and adopting them.

Go Wild! Post Prompt Challenge

To encourage you guys to keep up your amazing activity, the staff has devised a small posting contest for you to give you a basis for your posts. The contest is designed to get you in tune with your characters' more natural instincts. You can read more information about the contest HERE. We would encourage everybody to participate! Feel free to post questions if you have them and the staff will be sure to answer them.

Also, as a side note, please keep in mind that breeding season is coming to end. All breeding threads must be completed by the April 1st deadline. Additionally, we want to congratulate everybody on the site for reaching 3,000 posts. You guys are awesome!

Introducing Grizzly Hollow

Well as I'm sure some of you have noticed that there is a brand new color on our online user list. This is the introduction to Relic Lore's latest pack, Grizzly Hollow. Grizzly Hollow was founded by Borden and Jaysyek so that they would be able to breed this year, a privilege that they would not be allowed in Midnight Plateau. Along the way, they have collected some fellows who have gathered in the western edge of Relic Lore in Cedarwood Forest. They have taken great care to mark their borders, so beware when wandering that you don't intrude on what is now claimed land.

Additionally, to celebrate the opening of this new pack, Grizzly Hollow will be allowing OOC acceptance. Simply respond to this thread to ask for acceptance.

  Puppies, ranks and changes!

Puppies and hierarchy changes!

Oh look! A second update in the same day, aren't you lucky!? This one is quite a big one though as we introduce changes to our hierarchy system and welcome you to our first breeding season (which tends to lead to puppies and other good stuff)!

In real life wolf pack's male and female wolves operate on an almost entirely separated hierarchy meaning that each one runs independent of the other. The two leaders of the pack (male and female) are the wolves who have proved themselves to be the most dominant of their gender in the pack and therefore are best suited to breed the pack's future. RoW is adopting this system so we too will now have male and female hierarchies and the rank tables have been changed accordingly. Your pack will now have two leaders (typically a breeding pair) opposed to just the one before and that each rank will have a corresponding male and female position. The game information has also been updated accordingly with information on the new hierarchy.

It is also now March in real life meaning that it is also March in Relic Lore! Of course, for our Canadian based wolves this means one important thing: breeding season! A new thread has recently been created in Wolf Central, Breeding season '11, which is very useful if you are looking into having pups for your wolf this season as it outlines what you need to do. Also, for extra reading see the linked FAQ article below. It is recommended to be as prompt as possible for this form as everything is expected to be finished by the time March ends. Then, of course, we have the fun of adopting out the new additions!

Relic Lore currently has too many lone wolves for what we would like! To try and encourage some of you to join the packs (preferably the one needing the members most) feel free to use this OoC joining form for the limited time it is there. However if you are currently playing a lone wolf character it is strongly recommended that they find a pack. Two small further updates are the redesign of the top of the board where the online list is located; this was to help give an easier viewing of the most recent updates and will soon include a weather listing. Another is the addition of allowing you to see the active users in 24 hours if the curiosity strikes you, which a link to can be found when creeping on your fellow members.

Also the new FAQ articles may be useful reads:
How does my wolf create a pack?
Is my wolf allowed puppies if they are not a leader of a pack?

New Skins for Spring!

Hey guys! So we have a few updates in the making coming your way regarding a variety of things at RoW, but to tide you over until then we have a handful of new skins in celebration of breeding season and spring in Relic Lore.

If you are interested in submitting a skin to be used by RoW, check out this thread for details! We can't always use everyone's submissions right away, but the more posted here, the better! If you have submitted a skin already and do not see it up, it will be added soon. :) We just haven't gotten to coding it yet.

Technical Updates

Hello, everyone! To start off with this announcement, I want to share some statistics with you to show how much RoW has grown in the past month. Since January 1st, we have made a total of 1,473 posts which is an absolutely incredible amount. In the first two weeks of February alone we had 709 posts, which averages out to around 50 posts a day. That is absolutely amazing you guys. Congratulations, and keep up the good work!

Now, to get along to the point of this announcement.

Some of you may have noticed over the past couple of weeks errors and bugs of a technical nature. This is because I have been adding a variety of features to the board or fixing some things up behind the scenes. Below is a list and explanation of what all has happened so far.
Top Posters — This has been a long-standing bug on the board. Our 3 Top Posters for each month are figured automatically. However, what it did not do was add together the various counts of people who have more than one character. This has been remedied! Now, all character post counts are done by figuring in all the active accounts of that person so as to properly recognize everybody for their hard work. So if you've noticed a change in your standing, this is why.

Relationship Logs — The addition of the extra page to the user profiles brought about a request for a better way to list a characters' various relationships. As a result, new profile tagging shortcuts were created. These can be read about and explained here. This allows you to quickly link information about another character.

OTM Winners — A complete archive of the OTM winners up until this date has been posted. This is a note that winners will be declared on March 1st, so if you haven't, head over to the Monthly Nominations to vote for who you think should win.

Member Roster — Finally, RoW has it's listing of all the members on the game along with their characters and other information. This will now be linked in the side bar, along with a link to the Library.
That's all we've got for you right now, but stay tuned for a more In Character oriented update about the changes that are up and coming for the wolves of Relic Lore.

Big ch-ch-ch-changes!

In one of RoW's biggest changes since opening... Relic Lore (the IC part of the board) is now guest viewable and open to the public eye! We hope that being able to see our IC forums and read some of our threads and posts to get to know our activity, style and characters will help encourage those members reluctant to join a private board. Guest's can view the IC part of the board by using the IC and OoC navigation in the top right corner of their screen.

As one of RoW's newest features... We would like to introduce The Library! It is a database that will be filled with many helpful and informative articles for you to peruse and utterly and entirely abuse over time. Expect it to be constantly added to, as even as we speak there are some hidden articles still being written and perfected. It is also important to add that if you think we need a specific one, or have an idea for one you may like to help out with, please post this idea in the Suggestion Box! The Library link can be found in the top right corner of your screen.

A second feature we have for you is the extended profile! which allows you to create an entirely custom page on your profile to use as you wish. You could use it to keep track of your wolf's relationships with others it has met, as a graphic archive.. or anything else you can think of. You can design it anyway you like for any purpose. Also, to give you a helping hand, the Library has an article ready for you to read and use for tips on how to use it!

Finally, RoW would like to congratulate the OtM winners! Well done Grey for winning Wolf of the Month and then Member of the Month along with myself. To show her utter worth in winning both of these titles, Grey also went on to win the Top Monthly Poster with Katsuma and myself as runners up. Great job guys, and remember that the competitions start again from the 1st of the month! As a reward for being fantabulous enjoy the new skins See What You Find and Here Comes The Sun created by myself! :D

Here's to a great 2011, we have much in store for you all! Also don't forget that it's breeding season in March, hopefully RoW can experience it's first site-born puppies.

  Activity Check & Crackdown

Activity Check & Crackdown

It's that time once again for Ruins of Wildwood to do an activity sweep of its members. Normally this is done by seeing whether or not each member is meeting the IC post requirements and then removing them if not. However.. For many of us, the past month or so has been a stressful time with school, due to final exams and essays, while then a lot of people are spending time with their families and friends as its so close to the holidays. Because of this, we're going to do an old-fashioned activity check to see who still wants to be a part of the game. :)

To avoid removal of your character(s), simply make one IC post (with each of your characters!) in the IC boards and then reply below with your character(s) name and a link to the post. Everyone has until December 27 to post. Those who do not, will be removed from the game, but may always apply later when they feel they have more time. IF you still wish to be a part of the game but can not post before then (the holidays are crazy, we understand) then make sure to place yourself on the absence log.

Let's get this place active again. <3

New Skins

It's been quiet here the past few weeks as people finish writing up final exams and projects.. But, now that I have escaped that myself, I set up eight new skins for everyone to use! To those who submitted skins and they are being used, make sure to check out the rewards page to see what credentials you qualify for!

Expect an activity check in the next day or so to occur. Ruins of Wildwood is going to have another member sweep. :)
